Baker Sports Teams

After-School Sports

Fall Season

Volleyball (Grades 7–8)

  • Who: Separate boys’ and girls’ teams for grades 7–8
  • When: Two practices per week (1 hour after school) and a 7-game regular season against other Brookline K–8 schools
  • Game Day: Usually Wednesdays at 3:15 PM
  • Transportation: No bus provided for away games
  • Playoffs: Top four teams qualify for the tournament at Brookline High School

Cross Country (Grades 5–8)

  • Who: Students in grades 5–8 (permission slips available from the P.E. Department)
  • When: 10 practice sessions on the Baker field (1 hour after school)
  • Meet: Usually a Friday afternoon in October at Larz Anderson Park
  • Races: 5th Girls, 5th Boys, 6th Girls, 6th Boys, 7th–8th Girls, 7th–8th Boys
  • Transportation: No bus provided from Baker

Winter Season

Basketball (Grades 7–8)

  • Transportation: No bus provided for away games
  • Playoffs: Top four teams qualify for the tournament at Brookline High School

Spring Season

We offer two activities in the spring. Check back for dates and details.

Flag Football (Grades 7–8, Coed)

  • Open to all 7th–8th grade students; no cost to participate
  • Teams are Baker-only and scrimmage each other (no inter-school games)
  • Focus on learning the game, building skills, and enjoying organized play

Track & Field (Grades 5–8, Coed)

  • Meets held after school at Downes Field
  • Separate meets for grades 5–6 and grades 7–8
  • No bus transportation provided
  • Students compete against athletes from other Brookline K–8 schools

Track Events: 60m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 55m Hurdles

Field Events: High Jump, Long Jump, Javelin, Shot Put
